Flash Developer

Position Objective
Vancouver-based creative studio, Academy, seeks a Flash developer to join our team of international professionals working on interactive projects for clients such as Nike, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, and Starbucks.
As a valued member of Academy, you'll be expected to collaborate on state-of-the-art Flash applications, experiences, and websites while also providing technical oversight. As sole developer or one of many on a team, you'll help guide projects from concept, into development, and through to launch.
When not helping us push the boundaries of what's possible in ActionScript 3 you're keeping up with events in the industry, honing your own skills through research and experimentation while also sharing your knowledge with those around you.
Responsibilities
• Work with the team to create state-of-the-art Flash applications, experiences, and websites
• Demonstrate technical design prowess and an understanding of creating efficient and application architecture
• Programming complex Flash software solutions in AS3
• Solving problems throughout the scripting process, and optimizing and troubleshooting our work
• Working closely with the design to ensure creative success
• Work with other developers to ensure flawless user experience and seamless integration with necessary services and data
• Mentor and seek mentorship throughout the studio team
• Assist the senior management team with creative pitch efforts
• Work within project schedules and within deadlines
• Provide feedback and constructive criticism to colleagues to assist in skills development
• Act as company advocate and embody the Academy values: people, passion, creativity, fun and excellence
• Diffuse problems and put forward solutions that are in the best interest of the company and employees
• Participate in ongoing special projects in support of the Academy mission
Required Skills and Experience
• 3-5 years Flash development experience
• Strong portfolio demonstrating ability to program in a creative environment, collaborating with design, and strategy
• Proven expertise in building rich apps and games with mixed media assets and a variety of data types (primarily video)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and creating logical perfection
• Strong 3D math skills with solid understanding of matrices and transformations in Flash
• Knowledge of some or all of HTML, Javascript & Ajax, CSS, JSP, PHP, C++, C, Objective-C, Java and other similar technologies
